Adele is being accused of cultural appropriation after posting an Instagram photo on Sunday wearing a Jamaican flag bikini top, tie-dye pants, and Bantu knots.

"Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London,” Adele captioned her photo tribute to London’s Notting Hill Carnival, which was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Celebration of Caribbean culture? Or another example of a white woman being a culture vulture? Some who seen the image leaned towards the latter.  

“Bantu knots are NOT to be worn by white people in any context, period,” someone commented on Adele’s Instagram post. Others were not too sure. 

Swiftly, social media erupted in a debate about the 32-year-old singer’s choice to wear the traditional African hairstyle and carnival attire.
