The highly anticipated docuseries "Hollywood Black," inspired by historian Donald Bogle's book, will premiere on Sunday, August 11, 2024, on MGM+.

Bogle, a renowned film historian and author, is best known for his pioneering work chronicling African American performers' history and their roles in Hollywood. His book, which serves as the foundation for this docuseries, provides an in-depth look at the struggles and triumphs of Black artists in the film industry.

Directed by Justin Simien, this four-part series explores the history of cinema in Hollywood through a Black lens, featuring compelling personal stories from an impressive lineup of stars. The cast includes Simien, W. Kamau Bell, Steven Caple, Jr., Ryan Coogler, Ava DuVernay, Gina Prince-Bythewood, Issa Rae, LaKeith Stanfield, Gabrielle Union, Lena Waithe, and Forest Whitaker, among others.
