R. Kelly Posted And Deleted This Announcement, And The Internet Is In A State Of Emergency
On Tuesday (February 5), R. Kelly made arguably the first ballsy move of 2019 in the aftermath of Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly controversy with the announcement of a three-stop overseas tour, boldly promoted as “R. Kelly: The King of R&B.”
The proven sexual predator and R&B crooner posted the tour’s flyer to his Instagram account for fans, revealing the three locations in his caption. “New Tour Alert,” Kelly wrote. “Australia | New Zealand | Sri Lanka see y’all soon!” The post racked up to at least 32,000 likes from what’s left of Kelly’s supporters thereafter, including the salutations of Memphis rapper Memphitz, who wished blessings to “King Kelz,” as he dubbed him. It goes without saying that the rest of the internet didn’t feel that way, however.
After posting the flyer, Kelly apparently snatched it down from his socials
It’s not clear whether he jumped the gun on announcing the tour before schedule or if the backlash from the post might have become too much for the Chicago singer to bear. The decision to remove the tour announcement was likely in his best interest though, considering the choice words that the internet had for him about it afterward. Not to mention, he was never welcome there anyway, according to his overseas fans:
