UPDATE (7/10/2017, 4:40 p.m.): Foolery has reared its ugly head for a second time, targeting the Queens, New York, mural of fallen Mobb Deep legend Prodigy.

After culprits destroyed the life-size artwork yet again, this time with red paint, its creators have sadly been forced to throw in the towel and cover up the commemorative painting for good. Videos of the final paint job have circulated on social media showing the mural’s cover-up in black paint, thwarting any further attempts at vandalization. It’s unfortunate to imagine how frustrated the two artists behind the masterpiece, Jeff Henriquez and Eli Lazare, must be as well, especially after taking the time out to repaint the project just to be ruined less than 24 hours afterward.

Hopefully, the perpetrators are discovered anyway and P’s hometown can create a new way to honor the fallen hip-hop legend.

The passing of rapper Prodigy rocked the hip-hop community greatly, inspiring artists Jeff Henriquez and Eli "Eli Eos" Lazare to memorialize the late MC in the form of a mural.

However, less than 24 hours after it was completed, the art piece was defaced with white paint splattered across the late Mobb Deep rapper's face.

Cormega, a fellow rapper and a close friend of the artists responsible for the intricate painting, posted a photo of the incident to Instagram with a caption that read, "This is some sucker s**t."

The mural was located on the wall of the Urban Upbound building on 13th Street and 40th Avenue, just across the street from the Queensbridge Houses in New York City where Prodigy spent a great deal of his childhood.

Neither Henriquez nor Lazare have taken to social media to share their outrage over the disrespectful gesture. 

As of now, it is still unclear whether or not the NYPD is investigating the vandalistic act as a crime.

Prodigy died last month in Las Vegas after complications with sickle cell anemia. He was 42.
