Casting News: New Roles for Angela Bassett, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Angela Bassett is joining Cold War drama Close to the Enemy for BBC2, the British network has announced. The miniseries, produced by the team that put together Chiwetel Ejiofor's Dancing on the Edge, will follow the attempts of an army intelligence officer (Jim Sturgess), to persuade a captured German scientist (August Diehl) to share his nation’s secrets about the development of the jet engine.
Meanwhile, DC Comics' Suicide Squad has landed another villain. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast as Killer Croc in the David Ayer-directed film, which also stars Will Smith, Jared Leto and Viola Davis. The actor is best known for his role on Lost but also recently appeared in Thor: The Dark World.
Suicide Squad is slated for a 2016 release. There is no word yet on when Bassett's Close to the Enemy will come stateside.
