Bobby Brown Talks New Album
Between the sudden death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston, the reports of his estranged relationship with daughter, Bobbi Kristina, and a recent drug arrest Bobby Brown could use some therapeutic treatment.
The embattled R&B legend is planning to get his life back on track this year, starting with a revival of his music career. Brown plans to release Masterpiece this summer, his first album in 14 years, reports The Associated Press.
"It's what I've been through throughout my life, and just trying to heal myself through music," said Brown of the album.
Brown recently went on the Today show with Matt Lauer to set the record straight about some speculation on his turbulent marriage with to the late music icon, Whitney Houston. As he has done in the past, prior to Whitney's death, Brown maintained that he never did any hard drugs before meeting Whitney, although it had previously been a part of her life.
"The Matt Lauer interview was just for me to clear the air about what everyone was feeling about my ex-wife's death," Brown acknowledged.
Though he claims that he is still drug free, Brown was charged with a DUI this past March and made a plea deal to settle the issue with the LAPD. Despite the recent bump in the road, the singer remains optimistic about his future sobriety.
"When you're working on yourself, you have to really concentrate on working on yourself and it takes a back seat to what you want to do and what I'm gonna do," he told Associated Press.
The album isn't the only major thing on Browns plate. He's also set to marry his fiancée Alicia Etheridge in a summer wedding in Honolulu, Hawaii. The nuptials will take place on the weekend of June 15, and Brown will be flying out some of his family and friends to witness the ceremony he is calling his "big day." No word on whether Bobbi Kristina will attend the event, which coincidentally takes place on Father's Day weekend.
Brown's upcoming album Masterpiece is expected to be released on June 5.
