U.S. Army Sgt. Owen Neuville gave his son Dashaun the best graduation present ever, by surprising him on stage at his ceremony on Wednesday.

Dashaun is a student at Freedom High School in Bethlehem at Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. The teen thought that his father was not going to make it home to celebrate the big moment. Neuville was deployed to Afghanistan a few months ago and hid out for the past week in order to surprise his son, according to ABC 7.

While the teen sat in the audience waiting for his name to be called, his father sat in a green room. His father later met him on stage and handed his son the diploma. As they hugged, tears fell from Dashaun eyes.

The teen plans to attend Kutztown University in the fall and to study medicine.
