Capone-N-Noreaga Split
After 15 years as a team, rappers Capone and Noreaga have mutually agreed to part ways. Nore went on his Twitter account on June 9 to break the news to fans.
"I'm not making another war report album or another N.O.R.E. ALBUM IMMA MAKE THE 1st S.U.P.E.R.T.H.U.G. album cause that what's good for now," he tweeted. "CNN was a great group. Time has changed I must move on. Doesn't it hurt to watch a boxer still box when he's heart isn't in it that's what the group feels like right now."
The news comes as no surprise considering the lackluster performances of their lastest and final project, 2010's The War Report 2: Report the War. The LP, a sequel to their classic debut album, The War Report (1997), debuted at No. 98 on the Billboard and sold a mere 4,700 copies first week.
During the late 1990s the Queens-bred duo were providers of some of New York's top street anthems like "Channel 10," T.O.N.Y" and "L.A. L.A." Following the release of their debut in 1997, legal troubles landed Capone in jail, while Nore pursued a solo career dropping his solo debut, N.O.R.E, in 1998.
The tandem got back together in 2000 for the release of their sophomore album, The Reunion.
Both rappers squashed rumors that the current split was due to bad blood and left open the possiblity of another reunion.
Capone tweeted: "Capone n Nore could never break up.. Brothers b4 music.. It's my turn ya dig!"
Nore wrote: "We still homeys brothers family just we both need to do something different musically!!!"
