Tyson Beckford’s Nephew Charged With Second Degree Murder Over Fatal Bus Crash

Domonic Whilby, 23, was driving drunk in a stolen vehicle.

Domonic Whilby, the 23-year-old nephew of actor and model Tyson Beckford, has been charged with second degree murder in the "alcohol-fueled reign of terror" that killed New York City bus driver William Pena on February 12. Whilby, who had been partying with Beckford the night of the fatal bus crash, was driving drunk in a stolen truck when he crashed into the MTA bus in Manhattan, instantly killing the driver and injuring several passengers.
The charges have been upgraded from manslaughter, as previously reported.
"The defendant's actions, as depraved and as wanton as they were, show that no amount of bail is appropriate for this defendant at this time as he is charged with murder in the second degree and other charges," Assistant District Attorney Randolph Clarke Jr. said in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Court papers filed with the 17-count indictment reveal that Whilby admitted to having as many as eight vodka tonics between dinner in a private room at a hip New York City restaurant and he continued to party at a downtown hotel. He became despondent after the crash, and claimed he didn’t remember a thing.
"Let me die, get out of my face," he allegedly told cops at Bellevue Hospital about two hours after allegedly causing the wreck. "I don’t remember anything about the collision or even how I ended up driving a vehicle," he added.

If convicted, Whilby faces life in prison for his actions.
