Paula Patton Jokes That "Blackness" Takes Time
Paula Patton is well aware that the baby boy she recently had with husband, singer Robin Thicke, shares the aesthetics of his dad’s side of the family much more than hers.
Patton joked alongside comedian Chelsea Handler about it during the actresses’ appearance on Chelsea Lately. Patton was there to promote her latest film, Jumping the Broom, which opens in theaters on Friday. When the conversation turned to the baby, Handler told Patton, "When you don't look like your baby at all ... people think you're the nanny."
Being a good sport, Patton, who has a white mother and black father, told Chelsea, "He's blond, he has blue eyes. It's crazy. Everybody's like, did you have anything to do with this? They think we like adopted a Russian child."
The actress added, "Blackness takes time. A tan is coming in, the hair's curlier, I'm telling you."
