Offset Remakes James Brown’s Infamous 1988 Interview to Promote New Music

Fans can expect new tunes from the rapper on July 28.

To promote his upcoming new musical release, Offset is paying homage to one of the wildest interviews in music history.

In a new post shared Monday (July 24), the Atlanta native reenacts James Brown's infamous 1988 CNN interview with reporter Sonya Friedman. And as an added bonus to the hilarious spoof, Academy Award-winner Jamie Lee Curtis portrays the role of Friedman.

The Oscar winner starts the interview off by asking the “Clout” rapper, “Your fans are saying that there's a lot of drama between you and your beautiful wife, Cardi B.” This is seemingly a reference to recent reports that the Bronx emcee cheated on The Migos alum.

However, much like Brown did nearly three decades ago, Offset dodged the question.

“There’s no problems,” he insists.  He then bursts into laughter before revealing that he’s “out on love” and suggesting that they “talk about some music.”

“Y’all ready for some new music???….JEALOUSY!!" the “Ric Flair” rapper captioned his post.

Fans took to the clip almost immediately, praising the rapper for referencing the classic Brown interview in such a fun way.

“Offset is really giving pop culture king for recreating this James Brown interview  with Jamie Lee,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another supporter hyped up the emcee for his creativity. “Offset GETS IT!!!” the Twitter user wrote. “Like yes bring back celebrities in music videos & just havin an actual THEME! Y’all really better pay Set attention [because] he’s up! This is what a BUDGET video looks like!!”

Listeners can expect to hear some new tunes from Offset on Friday, July 28th. And with promotion already in gear, it may be only a matter of time before fans get a full view of what the rapper has in the works.
