Jay-Z Calls War of Words With Lil Wayne "Sport"
Lil Wayne caused a bit of a stir back in August when he took a not-so-subtle jab at Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé, on Tha Carter IV track "I'm Good."
"I got your baby money, kidnap your b**ch get that 'How much you love your lady?' money," Wayne rhymed.
But if fans thought Hov was losing any sleep over the slight, they would have been mistaken. Speaking to MTV News while at his Shawn Carter Foundation benefit this weekend, Jay said his back-and-forth with Weezy was just a part of the game.
"That's sport, that's rap music," he said. "That's not going to change. The only thing that's gonna change is the participants."
Wayne's barbs had been in response to what some believe was a shot at him in Jay's verse from "H.A.M."
"Half a billi, really? You got Baby money / Keep it real with n****s, n****s ain't got my lady's money," he raps on the song.
Jay downplayed the beef and instead talked up the good cause that brought him out for the evening. The multimedia mogul and philanthropist was putting on a lavish carnival-themed fundraiser to help provide scholarships to the underprivileged.
