Taye Diggs Partners With Lucky Charms To Bring The Magic Of Reading To Thousands Of Children
Taye Diggs continues to find new and interesting ways to surprise us all.
The All American star announced today that he is partnering with Lucky Charms to introduce the breakfast cereal’s first book, The Magic Inside. The story follows Lucky the Leprechaun, who struggles in being from both Humanland and Fairyland as he tries to find different ways to celebrate those differences all the while discovering he has magical powers.
Diggs, an award-winning author of five children’s books including Chocolate Me! and Mixed Me!, will read the first chapter of The Magic Inside live and host a Q&A on Instagram from the @LuckyCharms account for Read Across America Day on March 2 at 5pm PST / 8pm EST.
“The message that hammers home in [The Magic Inside] is a message that I touch on in some of my previous children’s books,” Diggs told BET.com.
“It’s a reminder to everyone how special and unique being different can be. As adults, we can all relate to feeling like being an outsider or not a part of the ‘in-group’ - it’s good to be reminded there’s some magic in recognizing what makes us different.”
“Magic lives in all of us, and by sharing more of Lucky’s story and his journey of self-discovery, we want to inspire families to find their own special magic,” said Mindy Murray, senior brand experience manager at General Mills. “We hope The Magic Inside encourages a love of reading by immersing parents and kids in a fun, adventurous story about Lucky and his family!”
Diggs is also scheduled to co-host this year’s Critics Choice Awards honoring the best in television and film with actress/comedienne Nicole Byer. The show is scheduled to air on the CW and TBS on Sunday, March 13. Between Diggs’ free spirit humor and Byer's bold and brass playfulness, these two might just crash the internet with what they have planned for the show.
“She’s really funny so I hope that we can play off of each other to make everybody laugh,” Diggs tells BET.com..
