Patrick Mahomes Speaks About Balancing Football and Family on Christmas

The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Las Vegas Raiders Monday.

Patrick Mahomes won’t exactly be rocking around the Christmas tree this Monday morning as he gears up to play in a Christmas Day game.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback told Pro Football Talk he has mixed feelings, expressing both excitement and a tinge of disappointment about being away from his family during the holiday festivities.

While the prospect of a standalone game at Arrowhead Stadium brings excitement to Mahomes, he acknowledges the downside of missing out on Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with his wife Brittany Mahomes and their two young children, Sterling and Bronze

“I’m a little disappointed I’m going to miss Christmas Eve with my kids and Christmas morning and miss Santa coming,” he said. “But I’ll be able to spend the evening with them and open presents with them then. So, it’ll be a great opportunity. I’m excited for that. We’ll miss the kids a little bit but we’ll celebrate after the game’s over.”

The quarterback's commitment to family is evident in the efforts he and Brittany are making to ensure their children still experience the magic of the season. Brittany recently shared a heartwarming photo of the family posing with Santa Claus, captioning it "the most wonderful time of the year."

Additionally, the Mahomes family embraced the holiday spirit by participating in a festive photoshoot for Skims in coordinated red-and-black pajamas. This commitment to festive family moments reflects the couple's enduring bond, as they have been together since their high school days.

The lovebirds tied the knot in a lavish Hawaii wedding in March 2022, where their daughter, Sterling served as the flower girl. Just eight months after their wedding, the couple welcomed their son, Bronze.

A Chiefs victory on Christmas would make the holiday season even merrier. If the Dolphins lose the day before and the Ravens lose on Monday night, the Chiefs would have more to cheer about, increasing their chances of securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
