Legendary boxing promoter, Ronald "Butch" Lewis, 65, passed away from heart failure yesterday morning.  He is best known for his promotional work with Leon and Michael Spinks.
Lewis was from Philadelphia and became friends with Smokin' Joe Frazier and then Muhammad Ali.  These friendships helped him land promotional jobs with high-profile boxers like Leon Spinks for a fight that coined Leon "The Greatest" in Las Vegas.  In addition, he famously scored Michael Spinks $13.5 million dollars for a match with Iron Mike Tyson.  However, Tyson knocked out Spinks in round one.

Lewis was also known for a colorful rivalry with Don King, who he referred to as "Bushy."  In later years, Lewis worked in the entertainment industry and had a joint venture with Def Jam/Universal Records.  Lewis also produced several television shows, including BET's Oh Drama.
Condolences to Butch Lewis' friends and family.
