The public rarely catches a glimpse of Jay-Z's mom or see her hanging out with her daughter-in-law Beyoncé, but on Monday night, Gloria Carter was looking sharp alongside the singer and Tina Knowles. The three were present at a fundraiser for President Obama's reelection campaign fundraiser in New York City. Beyoncé wore a figure-hugging navy blue dress by Victoria Beckham, Lorraine Schwartz earrings, Lanvin beaded necklaces, and Nicholas Kirkwood strappy heels. Her mom looked sophisticated with a form-fitting white top with black feathered collar while Carter went the more conservative route with an all-black ensemble.
The cocktail reception and dinner, which was held at Locanda Verde restaurant at the Greenwich Hotel and cost $5,000 per person, was organized by First Lady Michelle Obama who didn't fall behind in the style department. The first lady changed from a green trouser suit to a dazzling black and silver dress for the event.
Guests paid $5,000 for a photo with her while those who wanted to mingle with the First Lady forked over $25,000 for a ticket. Other attendees included Angela Bassett, Gayle King, Star Jones, and Whoopi Goldberg. Actor Robert De Niro and his wife, Grace Hightower, also hosted the 85-person event (held at their hotel) meant to raise money for the Obama Victory Fund.
