5 Things BardiGang Learned About Cardi and Offset From Their Essence Interview

The couple revealed their son's name

Hip Hop’s royal couple Cardi B and Offset opened up about their life to Essence in an exclusive interview that took place inside their Beverly Hills home.

Here’s the 5 takeaways from the interview that you must know:

  1. Cardi B Wants All Of Offset's Children To Feel Included

It's no secret that Offset has children from previous relationships before tying the knot with Cardi, and in some situations, it can be difficult for a person to encourage their new spouse and their children from past relationships to form a bond. Not in this case as Cardi B revealed in the exclusive interview how she "always" wanted her husband's children to love her. The femcee was also adamant of making sure all of her man's children would participate in the cover shoot for the publication.

“I always wanted them to love me, and they really do," she told the outlet.

"They tell me that. I feel it, and I hope that we always have a great relationship.”

The Migos rapper chimed in, telling the publication it's a "blessing" to have them all together and to have a wife like Cardi who embraces his children like her own.

"It could be an issue, but I don’t have to go through that, and that’s beautiful," he said.

  2. Cardi and Offset want their kids to have a working person mindset

Some celebrity kids may let Hollywood get to their head, but the couple nipped that in the butt early, letting Essence know they do not want their children to have a celebrity mindset, but a "mind of a working person."

    • “We still teach our kids like normal parents,” Offset says.
    • “I’ve never told my daughter she’s a celebrity. I want her to have the mind of a working person. I always tell my kids how hard I worked, how many years I put in to be in a position where everything is good.”

  3. The couple revealed their son's name

When a couple finally delivers their bundle of joy, the world is anticipating on the name of the child. It sets social media into a frenzy. During the interview, the royal couple revealed their son's name to be Wave.

While discussing their reasoning for being protective over Kulture when sharing her on social media, the interviewer continued to referred to their seven month Wave, with his full name being Wave Set Cephus.

  5. Cardi and Offset don’t put love first, which made their relationship stronger

Interesting take for sure, however, the "Clout" rapper explained the couple's stance on not putting love first but having a foundation which has been working for their relationship dynamic.

"It might sound weird, but we don’t always put love first—because sometimes you can put love before work and mess up your career, because you’re not focused,” he explains.

“Love is important, but if you’ve got that foundation, we should respect each other and what we have going on. I had never experienced a woman that was working like me and doing what I’m doing. It turns me on. She does her own thing. She likes the hustle, so that ain’t never getting in between our love."

  6. Cardi was hesitant on Offset looking at her contracts

Mixing business with pleasure is never the way to go for some folks, even if your significant other has suggestions on certain business decisions.

The Bronx native shared how she wasn't comfortable sharing her contracts with Offset in the building as she was still getting to know him.

"From the beginning, I remember he used to ask to see my contracts, and I would be like, ’Boy, I don’t know you like that,’” Cardi shared.

“But when I started letting him in on more things, I started seeing things differently. People have cut me short a lot, and ever since I have involved him in my business, I’ve been doing so much better. Sometimes people will make you feel you deserve less than what you’re worth.”
