Police Continue Search for Missing Chicago Woman 3 Weeks After Disappearance at Bahamas Yoga Retreat
The search for Taylor Casey continues after police announced the possible discovery of her phone after she went missing at a yoga retreat in the Bahamas.
The 41-year-old woman from Chicago was last seen in the Bahamas on June 19, a trip her family says Casey, who has been practicing yoga for over a decade, was attending “to fulfill a long-term goal of deepening her practice.”
Police Commissioner Clayton Fernander reported that during a search on June 22, a dog followed a scent from a tent to the water, where it abruptly ended. Subsequently, a phone was discovered submerged approximately 56 feet below.
“Investigators in the Bahamas requested assistance from American authorities to unlock the phone, but were unsuccessful,” Fernander stated on Monday. He added that authorities reviewed island-wide surveillance footage but found "no information to connect at this time."
Officials mentioned that underwater drones were deployed in the search for Casey on July 3, yielding no results. Additionally, surveillance footage from the hotel has not provided any leads.
Casey’s family say they “are not satisfied” with how the investigation has been handled thus far and are now calling on the FBI to step in, saying that without their help, they fear they may never uncover the truth about her disappearance.
