Janelle Monáe Appears in 'Classic Man' by Jidenna
Janelle Monáe is putting her talent towards incubating new artists through her Wondaland Records.
The imprint has partnered with Epic to release a compilation of work by a host of up-and-comers hand-picked and mentored by Monáe. Jidenna's "Classic Man," a genre-pushing hip hop/R&B hybrid, is the first single to drop from Wondaland. The track pays homage to men who appreciate a close shave and a fresh suit. The Brooklyn artist's smooth voice over the infectious beat practically dares you to get up and groove.

Monáe makes a cameo in the video for the track, directed by Alan Ferguson, rocking her signature tuxedo suit and fedora. The video also features fellow Wondaland artist Roman GianArthur and a sea of men in suspenders and bow ties.
“The collective talent of the Wondaland artists is awe-inspiring,” said L.A. Reid, Chairman and CEO, Epic Records. "I haven’t personally witnessed a collective that sounds and looks this special in quite a while. I’ve been a longtime supporter and friend of Janelle and it is an honor to now work with her as a visionary businesswoman who brings an all-star group of talented performers to the table.”
Noting that each artist on the Wondaland imprint writes and produce on their own records, Monáe adds that the group "has unparalleled talent, incredible vision, and brings something unique to the music industry. Together, we’re creating a new movement and space for the future of music and pop culture." Her new single "Yoga" is also featured on the compilation.
