Woman On Life Support After Nearly Drowning At Fitness Center Where She Had Allegedly Been Living For Weeks
A 24-year-old Texas woman is on life support after her body was found floating in the swimming pool of a fitness center where she had possibly been living for the last several weeks.
On Sunday morning, Jamila Hashim was found in the pool at Life Time Fitness in Colleyville by a gym member. Hashim worked in the spa section at the gym where she was discovered, reported CBS 11 News.
According to Hashim’s friends, she had been having a difficult time finding a place to live and was possibly sleeping at the gym and the inside of her car, which was in the parking lot.
Although authorities have not confirmed if Hashim was living in the fitness center, they did find some of her clothes in the building.
Gym members say there were never notified about the incident, but could see the likelihood of Hashim living at the center because the gym, as well as the pool, is never closed. are also expressing concerns that the pool was never closed, nor were they notified about the incident.
Officials with the Colleyville Police Department do not suspect foul play and are calling the incident an “accidental drowning.” According to officials, it’s not likely that Hashim will survive.
Life Time Fitness sent CBS 11 News a statement which simply read, “Out of respect for the family, we’re unable to comment.”
Hashim is currently on life support at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.
