Tyrese Responds To Criticism After Singing Marvin Gaye-Inspired National Anthem
Tyrese has responded to the criticism he received for his recent performance.
On Sunday (Aug. 11), the “How You Gonna Act Like That” hitmaker performed the National Anthem at the preseason game between the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys at SoFi Stadium. Tyrese decided to recreate Marvin Gaye’s 1974 performance when he sang for the Cowboys and the Oakland Raiders and the internet did not fail to clown him.
An X (formally known as Twitter) user wrote, “Tyrese just tried to emulate Marvin Gaye’s rendition of The Star Spangled Banner at the #Rams vs. #Cowboys game – it failed miserably. #LambComps.”
Tyrese shared his response in an Instagram post. “Thank you…… You’re always welcome here….. respectfully I don’t really know if I agree,” he began. Few bad notes? Mheeeee that’s an open mic for you….. God is the greatest we live in the best country in the world and I really really tried.”
The 45-year-old added that all the reactions to his performance caused his website to crash from pre-orders for his new album, Beautiful Pain, which is set to be released on Aug. 30. “My website crashed. I’m sorry please go to Tyrese.Tv and try one more time to get onto the site. I’m so sorry. I’ve never had this many people on my side at one time Tyrese.Tv less than 30 days of the release of #BeautifulPain. Sorry. Teddy-Marvin-Donnie-Wonder-Gibson is my name… Smile…. it’s a viiiiiiibbbbeeeee!!!!!!!”
