Yelawolf Is Not a Fan of White Rappers Using the N-Word
Speaking out against fellow white rappers who use the N-word, Alabama rapper Yelawolf went on VladTV to discuss the "embarrassing" actions of his white counterparts.
"I'm from the South. That s--t don't fly," said Yela. "And in Alabama, put it this way. There are grandparents alive today whose parents went through a war. We're just out of the slave trade. It's a very real situation. You don't take that shit lightly, especially hip hop and American music culture is Black culture. Don't ever get it fucked up. Know your roots, know where the fuck you're getting this music from and respect it. And don't embarass white people and white rappers by doing that dumb s--t, by dropping the N-bomb and thinking you're all cool and shit. You're going to find yourself slapped up and it might be by a white boy. Because you ain't gonna embarrass me around my people like that."
The up-and-coming rapper goes on to explain that despite those that try to downplay the gravity of the term in our current times, the word is still very powerful and should be avoided out of respect and not just in respect to music.
"As a white rapper, it's always been a big no-no, but as a human being, it's been an even bigger no-no," he said.
As previously reported, Bay Area rapper and Kreayshawn affiliate, V-Nasty initially defended her use of the N-word but later had a change of heart.
