BET.com Exclusive Clip: I Ain’t Scared of You: A Tribute to Bernie Mac DVD
When the late Bernie Mac (who passed away in 2008) made his first appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam in 1991, he danced to the mic and exclaimed to the crowd “I ain’t scared of you mother fu—ers!” The sharp-tongued declaration loosened up the crowd for what would be a hilarious stand up routine. I Ain't Scared of You is the title of a new documentary that flashes back to the days where he was still honing his craft in Chicago and follows his rise to fame.
The film takes a rare, revealing look at the performer’s life from interviews with those who knew him best: Angela Bassett, Don Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Rock, Bill Bellamy, Cedrick the Entertainer, D.L. Hugley, Zoe Saldana and many more. Early footage and never-before-seen performances are courtesy of his friends as well as behind-the-scenes moments from some of his well known work (The Kings of Comedy Tour, The Bernie Mac Show and several feature films) are also included.
I Ain’t Scared of You: A Tribute to Bernie Mac was directed by Robert Small (Back from Hell: A Tribute to Sam Kinison) and executive produced by Small and Rhonda McCullough. The documentary will be available on DVD and digital download February 21. Get a sneak peek in the clip above!
