Nicki Minaj Is Being Accused Of Physical And Verbal Abuse By Safaree...
Since spearheading his own music career, tossing out lawsuits and throwing himself back on the market, Safaree has stayed out of his former girlfriend and Young Money femcee Nicki Minaj’s way.
Hopefully, it can stay that way even after he recently maintained accusations that Nicki subjected him to verbal and physical abuse, claims made in the now-dismissed lawsuit he formed against her in 2016.
The Brooklyn-born music executive met yet again with The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy, but this time on The Casey Crew, Envy’s joint podcast with his wife, Gia Casey. Somehow, Safaree’s previous relationship with Nicki made its way into the conversation and he discussed everything from being at her side when she officially secured the deal with Lil Wayne’s Young Money empire to darker moments he claimed lingered over their relationship.
DJ Envy recalled times where Safaree wasn’t allowed to leave the house just to hang out without having to make up a good excuse. Envy said that Safaree was “sheltered,” to which the “Hunnid” rapper explained was due to Nicki being sheltered as well.
“I was really comfortable, but then the fights and stuff—it just was getting too crazy,” Safaree said. “And I was like, ‘You know what? I don’t wanna go to jail, I don’t wanna go to the hospital. I’m backing up.’”
He shared a never-before-told story about an incident where she asked him to bring her a bag from another room in their house. Safaree didn’t like the way that she spoke to him, so he said he walked away from the incident and didn’t respond to her instead. This is just one situation he alleged would bring about some of their volatile relationship spats.
“We’re not going to be doing this all day every day,” he continued. “I’m not going to be having hands put on me and the verbal—it’s like, yo, it takes awhile to get over that.”
Safaree said that what he experienced weighed on his insecurities even after their relationship was over, and it took him around four and a half years to regain self-confidence. Though The Pinkprint femcee likely won’t be responding to the claims in the near future, she’d already gave her side back in 2016 when Safaree brought the lawsuit against her and cited physical and verbal abuse in it.
“Two years later this poor excuse of a man is suing me & claiming to have been physically & emotionally abused. Lol. He’s so miserable,” she tweeted back in 2016. “Look @ what ‘men’ have become so that they don’t have to work. Fathers [please] stay in your sons’ lives.”
Nicki added that she had to have her then-boyfriend and MMG rap star Meek Mill tell him to stop contacting her via email. She also threatened to release emails with presumable incriminating evidence against Safaree’s claims and accused him of stealing money.
Looks like he’s still holding on to his side of the story two years later, though.
