Allow Young Dolph To Explain How His Beef With Yo Gotti Started
Young Dolph is pretty much an open book. Despite having been shot one month ago, the rapper has been very vocal about his near-death experience. And now in a new interview, Dolph is opening up about his longstanding beef with Yo Gotti, which is believed to have influenced his recent incident.
In a new feature story for The Fader, Young Dolph refused to refer to Yo Gotti by name. Instead, he called the fellow Memphis artist “Lil Dude.” He also referred to Gotti’s crew as “them lil n***as I don’t f**k with.” According to Dolph, the beef originally sparked because Gotti allegedly wanted to sign him to his label, CMG. “They wanted me to fuck with them so bad when I first came in the game,” Dolph explained of Gotti and affiliates.
Dolph elaborated on his initial claims. “Because they was in my city. Because they knew I had this money, they knew I had a campaign, they knew what I was getting ready to do just like I knew,” he added. But instead of going with Gotti, Dolph allegedly invested $3 million of his independent money into establishing his rap career. Although Dolph doesn’t go into further detail about the feud, it seems as though Dolph’s denial of Gotti’s support may have ultimately caused the rift.
Although it was initially reported that the “Rake It Up” rapper was a “person of interest” in Dolph’s shooting in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Police Department dispelled the rumors when they arrested Corey McClendon on suspicion of attempted murder. McClendon, who is reportedly an affiliate of Gotti’s, was released from custody on Sept. 29.
Gotti has yet to speak on the feud.
