J. Cole's Manager Just Revealed Something About Jay-Z None Of Us Would Have Guessed...
Business, rap and entertainment elitist Jay-Z has one of the most inspiring rags to riches stories hip-hop has ever known, building his career from the ruthless Brooklyn streets of the Marcy Projects on up.
But on his rise to the top, Hov still held on to at least some nuances of his Brooklyn boy ways. That includes the tenderness he prefers for his steaks, according to Dreamville president and J. Cole’s manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad.
In an interview with the podcasters of It’s The Real, Ib dished on everything, from how him and Cole’s business relationship and friendship came to be as well as the Dreamville leader’s early days as a Roc Nation signee. He shared one particularly hilarious story that happened during the time Cole was shopping around potential singles from his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story.
Ib and Cole met up with Jay at New York’s five-star Butter restaurant, where he was seated in the entire venue alone. When the two arrived, Ib said Jay had ordered his entree, but requested the waitress return it to the kitchen after he changed his mind.
“Jay was there and he ordered some pasta, and he sent it back,” he recalled. “When the waiter came, he was like, ‘Ah, I’ll just take the steak. Well-done.’”
Ib and Cole were utterly awestruck, the Dreamville president remembers, considering that Hov was so rich, yet ate this luxury food item at such quality. Apparently, Mr. Carter never realized that, and Ib added that weeks later, Jay even texted Cole asking how he should be eating his steak. Cole, a then-fresh-faced industry beginner, told him medium-well.
We guess you can take the man out of the hood, but…well, you know the rest.
