Janet Jackson Still Feels Michael's Pain Every Time She Performs 'Scream'

Janet recalls their time writing the song together in New York and describes how performing it live brings back memories of their bond and the challenges they endured.

Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson shook the world up with their smash duet, “Scream,” and Janet says she still can feel his pain anytime she performs the record.

The 1995 hit record was created in retaliation by Michael due to numerous tabloids and media coverage alleging the megastar was sexually abusing children. The record was written, composed and produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the Jackson siblings.

The single became the first to debut at number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 and received three MTV Video Music Awards and the Grammy Award for Best Music Video.

In an interview with BBC, Janet reflects on performing the record live and how the record came about.

"Mike and I wrote that song in New York, in his apartment," she shared.

"So [I relive] that whole journey, listening to him sing it [and remembering] what he was going through at that time. And just me being his little sister, always by his side, and being that support system. That's always been my role."

The actress revealed she still gets emotional while listening to the deceased legend, "listening to him every night, seeing him, remembering us.”
