The National Anthem protest movement has moved the MLB. 

On Saturday, Oakland A's catcher Bruce Maxwell took a knee during the national anthem, becoming the first player in the league to become a part of the protest.

The 26-year-old catcher, who grew up in a military family held his cap over his heart as his team stood for the anthem. Following the anthem, his teammate Mark Canha showed his support by hugging Maxwell.

The A's released a statement supporting his act of protest as well.

While athletes have received much criticism from fans, journalists, and POTUS, it is undeniable that the form of protest it taking hold across American sports and culture. 

Hopefully Maxwell is the first of many baseball players to take a knee against the injustices they see in the United States.
