You Will Soon Be Able to Watch The Birth of a Nation in Theatres
After receiving major critical acclaim during its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, Nate Parker's The Birth of a Nation will soon be available for viewing by the masses. According to Variety, the film is slated for a nationwide fall 2016 release.
The film, which chronicles the true story of Nat Turner, the slave who notoriously led an uprising in Virginia in 1831, is confirmed to be released across the United States on October 7.
Following its highly praised premiere at the festival, it was acquired for $17.5 million by Fox Searchlight, making it that richest deal in the festival's history. The hefty bid and fall release now has critics buzzing that an early predicted Awards season sweep is expected.
The film, which was writter, directed and stars Parker, also features the likes of Gabrielle Union, Aja Naomi King, Aunjanue Ellis, Dwight Henry, and a slew of other high profile actors.
