Suge Knight and Katt Williams Plead Not Guilty to Attacking Paparazzi
Suge Knight and Katt Williams have pleaded not guilty to charges of robbery over an altercation at a Beverly Hills studio last September. Celebrity photographer Leslie Redden alleged that the duo assaulted her and stole her camera for taking a photo of Knight when his young son was around.
Redden, who is suing Knight and Williams, stated that the encounter turned physical when Williams and his female friend appeared from around the corner and attempted to take the camera away from her and demanded she delete the photos. Redden also said Knight lifted his shirt to show his waistband, and defamed her by saying that she "engaged inappropriately" with his minor son, by taking pictures.
Knight and Williams were arrested a month later for taking the camera. According to her suit, Redden was “severely hurt,” sustaining injuries to her neck, back, wrists, and suffering issues with her “health, strength and activity.”
At Tuesday’s hearing, Knight’s attorney stated, “The only evidence that exists is he didn't want his son photographed. Any father would have acted as he did." Suge Knight already faces multiple life sentences due to prior convictions for armed robbery, assault and hit-and-run charges.
Knight is being held on a $10 million bail due to his extensive rap sheet and Williams is out on $75,000 bail. They are expected back in court for a hearing on November 30.
Lately it's been Knight's legal troubles that have kept him in the news, but at one point he was a titan of hip hop. Watch the controversial music titan talk about his work and career, below:
