Beyoncé, Iggy Azalea, Eminem Top MTV VMA's Nominees List
The numbers are in and Queen Bey reigns supreme as she is nominated for a whopping eight Moon Men at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
Beyoncé leads the list with nominations for Video of the Year, Best Female and Best Collaboration for an assortment of tracks from her surprise self-titled visual album.
The announcement came on Thursday (July 17) in true innovative MTV style via the social-media picture app SnapChat. Other notable nominees include rookie Iggy Azalea and veteran MC Eminem, who almost tied with Bey coming in with seven nods each.
Both Em and Iggy come to the VMAs with mega hits, Em's "The Monster," featuring Rihanna, and Iggy's "Fancy," featuring Charlie XCX. Iggy and Em will compete for Best Collaboration with her feature on Ariana Grande's "Problem" versus Em and Rih Rih's "The Monster." "Fancy” will also contend for Video of the Year, Best Female and Best Pop.
This year could be record-making for Beyoncé, who has 12 VMA's, and Em, who is hot on her tail with 11. With that many awards under their belts and this year's nominations, they are both on the road to reach Madonna's VMA record, a total of 20 Moon Men.
Pharrell, Jay Z, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Lorde, Sam Smith and more also received nods. Although most of the night's performers have yet to be announced, Ariana and Usher have already been confirmed.
