White House resident Donald Trump’s “zero-tolerance” immigration policy, which orders that all immigrants—including children—be detained for illegally crossing the border no matter the circumstance, has resulted in the heart wrenching separation of immigrant families and brought the U.S. together in collective resistance against the inhumane executive order. That includes hip-hop.

Stirring photos of what Trump’s policy has subjected detained children as young as 3-years-old to stormed the internet in the past week, showing the youth wrapped in aluminum foil-like Mylar blankets and grouped off into cages. The photos were provided by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection as well and ignited the outrage behind the family-separating approach that has caused a devastating number of immigrant families to be separated from their loved ones with no information about each other’s whereabouts. Trump has since signed off on a reversal of the tyrannical order while emphasizing his priority of “being sure we have a very powerful, very strong border,” CNN reports.

Hip-hop, too, has a very strong, very powerful platform that they’ve used to voice their pain and fury against the original order. From artists who can empathize with the victims of the policy, such as Trinidadian-born Nicki Minaj, to those who can sympathize with them, such as hip-hop hitmaker Swizz Beatz reaction to Rachel Maddow’s tearful breakdown on live television while reporting on the immigrant policy, hip-hop is selflessly taking a stand against yet another Trump order and for immigrant families everywhere.
