Fake Doctor Who Gave Butt Injections To Cardi B And Is Accused Of Killing A Woman Fled Country
Police in New York are working to get the woman who posed as a doctor and administered illegal butt injections to women—one of whom died—back to the United States.
Donna Francis is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the 2015 death of 34-year-old Kelly Mayhew, who worked as a television producer.
After being charged, Francis fled to London in February and is now fighting extradition, detectives told NBC New York.
Francis, who operated out of a basement in Queens, had also given butt injections to rapper Cardi B, reported the New York Daily News.
While silicone is commonly used in underground procedures to plump lips and butts, it is banned for cosmetic purposes in the U.S.
Mayhew’s mother was present for her third round of injections and begged Francis for help when her daughter turned purple and stopped breathing, Lt. Richard Rudolph, Commanding Officer of the Queens South Homicide Squad, told NBC.
NYPD detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Francis and a Queens grand jury indicted her.
Although British police arrested Francis, she was released on a monitoring bracelet.
Detectives say it could take months or even years before she is sent back to the U.S. to stand trial.
