Fat Joe Had To Tell His Son He Doesn’t Have Jay-Z Or Diddy Money
Fat Joe is known to keep it real, even when it comes to his kids and managing their expectations.
During a recent episode of the I Am Athlete podcast, the Bronx rapper spoke about relativity when it comes to fame and riches and celebrity.
“You should never lie to yourself,” Joe said in regards to levels of wealth. “Don’t even lie to your family. I tell my wife, I tell my kids, we are not Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs or Shawn Carter, Jay-Z. One day my son, he was like, 19 [years old], he’s like, ‘Yo dad, look at this!’ I look at it, he got Dr. Dre son on a private plane, you got Jay-Z. He’s like, ‘This is how the sons are moving now!’”
He added that in conversations with his son about wealth, he makes sure to keep his expectations grounded.
“I was like, ‘You ain’t f****n’ movin’!’.. We ain’t got that s**t! So, stop lookin’ at them mutha**ckas and stay the course! Stay in your lane, because a lot of — it can be women, too — but a lot of men lose themselves by not trying to keep it real with themselves.”
While Fat Joe is humble about his wealth, he has had a long career in music which has parlayed into numerous business ventures, the latest of which is partnership with White Castle.
