Here’s the Strange New Theory on How Eazy-E Got AIDS

Former Ruthless Records artist Frost blames acupuncture.

A Former Ruthless Records artist has an Eazy-E AIDS theory that may surprise you. Arturo "Frost" Melina Jr. says a record label executive is responsible for Eazy contracting the disease through acupuncture needles.

Frost dropped the bomb during a documentary on Latinos in hip hop. “I’m-a tell you what happened with Eazy getting AIDS and I believe this to this day,” he says in a clip from the doc. “I don’t care if you guys got it on film. You can tell the world. They gave him tainted needles with acupuncture. Needles that tainted him, they gave it to him.”

The person responsible is referred to as “the devil,” because Frost refuses to even speak his name. However, his description of the alleged executive sounds familiar. “I don’t wanna say that name ’cause it’s the devil’s name, but another person in rap, if you know you’re history of rap, calls him the devil,” continues Frost. “If you know the history of rap, West Coast rap, you know who I’m saying. I was told even in my last conversation from Eazy not to even talk to that man. Not only that, but I think that they really had a stronghold of giving him tainted needles with the AIDS virus in him with acupuncture.”

Eazy-E died from an AIDS-related illness in 1995 but the infection stories have been louder since  Straight Outta Compton and an old Suge Knight interview resurfacing online. As Frost sees it, Eazy’s rapid deterioration is proof of a conspiracy. “Have you even heard of somebody dying in two weeks of AIDS? It’s unheard of.”

Back in the ‘90s, HIV/AIDS was still a relatively new, which could contribute to shortened mortality rates. Depending on medical treatment, an AIDS patient can become susceptible to a quick death. Other cases found that HIV can move into the “clinical latency stage” (where little to no symptoms occur) for up to a decade before a full-blown AIDS diagnoses.
