Music icon Sylvia Robinson will be laid to rest on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Community Baptist Church in Englewood, New Jersey. Robinson suffered from congestive heart failure and passed away on Sept. 29. She was 75 years old.

Robinson was a tour de force in hip hop, co-founding Sugar Hill Records, the label responsible for launching the Sugar Hill Gang and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. The record company famously released the first rap song, "Rapper's Delight," in 1972.

In addition to her executive role, Robinson was credited as a singer and songwriter. She penned and produced the track "Love On a Two Way Street" for soul trio the Moments in 1970, which was sampled by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys in their hit "Empire State of Mind."
