Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta’ Will End With Season 4 On FX
Donald Glover’s Emmy-winning Atlanta TV series will officially wrap after Season 4 on FX.
The news was announced on Thursday (Feb. 17) during the shows Television Critics Associations virtual winter press tour, Deadline reports. Glover, who executive produces, writes, directs, and acts in the project, also attended the panel to explain why he decided to end the show.
“To be honest I wanted to end it at Season 2,” Glover shared. “Death is natural…when the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right they don’t happen. Things start to get weird…you can’t do too much. The story was always supposed to be what it was and the story, it really was us.”
The series has scored five Emmy Awards since its Season 1 premiere in 2016 and stars Glover, Brian Tyree Henry, LaKeith Stanfield and Zazie Beetz.
“The new season is everything you’ve come to expect from ‘Atlanta,’” said FX CEO John Landgraf during the panel.
The third season of Atlanta will debut on March 24, followed by the final run in the fall.
News that the series is coming to a close should come to little to no surprise, fans might remember that Glover parted ways with his deal with the Disney-backed FX to join Amazon Studios last year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
