DeAndre Jordan Snapchatted Doc Rivers's Son About Return to Clippers

No, not Austin Rivers.

The DeAndre Jordan free-agent signing saga from earlier this summer just got stranger.

That's because Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers revealed to Sports Illustrated that Jordan  snapchatted his youngest son to tell him that he wanted to return to the team. But the offspring that Rivers was referring to wasn't Austin Rivers — Jordan's teammate on the Clippers. It was Spencer Rivers.

“DeAndre thought about leaving, but right away, he knew he wanted to come back,” Rivers told SI. “He even Snapchatted my youngest son, Spencer. He had told two or three people he’d made a mistake [after signing the offer sheet with Dallas], but the Snapchat said, ‘Tell your dad to call me.’”

Why Jordan would reach out to Spencer, 20, and not Austin, 24, is definitely peculiar, but then again, the center's entire free agency could be described as a debacle.

Remember, Jordan originally gave a verbal commitment to the Dallas Mavericks before changing his mind during the last minute and opting to re-sign with the Clippers on an $88 million extension.

A Clippers contingent of Doc, Paul Pierce, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin were credited with helping sway Jordan.

After getting heated backlash from NBA fans and Mark Cuban, Jordan later apologized to the Mavs owner.
