Ever the champion for a good education and giving back to the community, Magic Johnson has opened an education center in downtown Atlanta that will help students who've dropped out of high school or are at risk of passing up their diploma. The Magic Johnson Bridgescape center is free for students age 14 to 20 and will offer life skills counseling, academic and developmental support, online classes and one-on-one attention.

“Those students who finished school [from the center in Ohio] with us at the end of the last school year, 75 percent of them returned at the beginning of the school year to continue their education,” said Jennifer Parker, from Bridgescape, in a televised interview with WSB TV 2.

The program, which is part of the virtual charter high school Provost Academy Georgia, is also present in Ohio, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina and Pennsylvania with plans to open more centers in Augusta, Macon and Savannah, Georgia.
