Fivio Foreign Says Pop Smoke Dropped Bars On His Upcoming Mixtape

“The day before he passed, we did a song together."

Emerging rapper Fivio Foreign, still in mourning over the tragic death of his friend, Pop Smoke in February, said he had been working on music with his fellow drill rapper the day just before he was murdered.

  • “The day before he passed, we did a song together,” he shared during a recent appearance on New York radio station Hot 97. “It’s gonna be on my tape. It’s fire.” He added that his mixtape, 800 B.C., will be dropping later this month on April 24, prior to the release of his debut album, The Bible.

Pop Smoke had been enjoying breakout success with his hit “Welcome to the Party,” when he was shot dead February 19 in an apparent home invasion.

“The Bible was put here for you to learn from...so my s**t is like that, instructions. Learn from me. This is how we doing the new wave, [and] Before the Bible is B.C.,” Fivio explained of the mixtape’s concept.

Later in the interview, he spoke on the legacy his fallen brother-in-rhyme was building before his death. He voiced that, in his eyes, Pop Smoke had reached legend status. “He’s a legend, bro. He did a lot in a short period of time,” Fivio said.

  • Fivio’s announcement comes on the heels of a Complex interview with Pop Smoke’s manager, Steven Victor, who revealed that he is currently developing a documentary about the late rapper.

Two weeks before he was murdered, Pop Smoke shared with the website that he wanted to make a documentary about the uphill challenges drill rappers face from the police.

“I’m gonna show you why they don’t like that — what they don’t like,” he said of the film. “Let’s see if you have the same feedback that they have. Let’s see if you would want me to be banned and want me to not perform. I doubt you will. All this good music being recorded, and you want to put it on hold? You don’t want people to hear it?”
