André 3000 Is on Erykah Badu's New Mixtape
Two of Golden Era's favorite alternative offspring, André 3000 and Erykah Badu have reunited for the holidays.
On Badu's latest offering, But You Caint Use My Phone, the OutKast rapper is featured on "Hello," an already viral song in which the "Other Side of the Game" co-stars exchange a series of signature melodies for which they've both become known.
Dre's rapid fire Gemini flow, for example, is exemplified in the way he repeats, "Will this b***h click over for me? I mean, will this woman click over for me? Over for me. Over for me. Is it over for me? ... I don't know."
There's no telling if she will (or maybe she did, and he can't hear), in the way that Badu flirtatiously croons, "Hello ... Hey, hello" throughout. "It's me, I've thought about us for a long, long time..." she adds, before the track sonically moves into a "Prototype"-reminiscent space.
"Don't change squirrel," they both sing.
The mixtape, a healthy helping of cellular device-related inspiration was inspired by that one session when she remixed Drake's "Hotline Bling" (the song now appears on the tracklist as "Cel U Lar Device") and her famed "Tyrone" song (in which she suggests you call him). It's available as of Friday on iTunes and via more platforms Dec. 4.
She hosts the Soul Train Awards airing this Sunday Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. ET on Centric.
