Disney fans swarmed social media over recent controversy surrounding Princess Tiana's skin tone and African-American likeness being skewed to fit the more European mold of the other princesses in the new Wreck-It Ralph film.

While the outrage was made clear, no one from the Disney family voiced any concern over the topic until now as the voice behind Princess Tiana, Anika Noni Rose, shared a thorough message on the situation.

Rose, who voiced Tiana in 2008'S The Princess and the Frog, posted a lengthy message on Instagram detailing how she was "as surprised" as fans of the character to learn that the first African-American princess had "lighter skin and much sharper features" in the controversial teaser.

"Aside from my personal feelings, I noted how people felt online (and in my dms) and I was glad to see that people are still very much in love with and supportive of our Princess," she wrote. "My team and I immediately put in a call to the studio to talk about the visual changes, and three weeks ago I had a meeting in person with the Wreck-It Ralph team, my original animator Mark Henn, and others."

On Monday, news broke that Disney worked to darken Princess Tiana's skin tone and make her features more original to the character that the world was initially introduced to.

Rose added in her statement that the original animator stepped in and took over after they walked her through how the transition to CGI animation changed Tiana's appearance.

"They explained how CG1 animation did different things to the characters' color tones in different light compares to hand drawn original character, and I was able to express how important it is to the little girls (and let's face it, grown women) who felt represented by her that her skin tone stay as rich as it had been, and that her nose continue to be the little round nose that Mark so beautifully rendered in the movie," she added.

She went on to thank Disney for working to rectify the issue after the backlash.
