From ‘Rap City’ to Real Life Part 2: Where Are the Early Hosts Now?
“Rap City” made such a tremendous impact on the culture that it still resonates with viewers and historians alike. People who got to watch it still wonder what the show’s former hosts are up to today, and that’s why we did some digging. Our first follow-up featured Chris “The Mayor” Thomas, Hans “Prime” Dobson, Prince Da’Jour, Joe Clair and Leslie Segar. Today, just ahead of Welcome to Rap City, which premieres tonight at 8 pm ET on BET, we check on the last half of the who’s hosts and see where they are now.
Big Tigger
It’s probably safe to say that Big Tigger is one of the most popular hosts Rap City has ever had. He hosted from 1998 - 2005. After his time on Rap City: Tha Basement, he continued hosting red carpets, appeared as himself in Drumline: A New Beat, hosted Live in the Den With Big Tigger and more. These days, he’s the host of his own daily radio show, The Big Tigger Show on V-103 in Atlanta.
DJ Mad Linx
DJ Mad Linx was at the helm of Rap City for a short time from 2005-2006. He still DJs and hosts for ESPN and Citi Taste of Tennis.
J-Nicks
J-Nicks was also on Rap City from 2005-2006. The St. Louis native continued life as a personality following his time on Rap City. He appeared briefly on Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta in 20016, a move he regrets, but that didn't’ stop him from continuing the grind. He currently hosts Atlanta’s Hot 107.9’s “Trap House” on weekdays from 3pm - 7pm.
