La La Anthony Dishes on How Kim Kardashian Has Supported Her Prison Rehabilitation Program
La La Anthony is grateful for her multifaceted friendship with Kim Kardashian.
The "BMF" star is on a mission to continue using her star power for good. During a recent interview with PEOPLE, Anthony, who leads the ThreeSixty nonprofit organization that provides young men 18-21 who are locked up at Rikers Island with rehabilitation services, opened up to the outlet on the initiative. She also explained how the reality star has been more than a close friend to her; she's been a mentor.
"She's my best friend, so it's great to have a better friend that you can bounce ideas off of or say, 'What do you think about this?'" Anthony said of the SKIMS co-founder. "Or even just, 'What does the law say when it comes to this?' Because she's studying to be a lawyer, so it's great to say, 'Hey, what does the law say in this situation? Or what would you do here?'"
"I mean, it's a great thing to talk about and have someone in my corner in that way," she continues, "and I admire all the amazing things that she's done, and she has just provided so much support to ThreeSixty as well."
The initiative aims to rehabilitate those in the program with life coaching, legal services, and re-entry tools for success.
"We want them to be prepared with certain skills so they can really get out there and back into life and into the workforce after release," Anthony told the outlet.
The work within the organization is seeing the fruit of its labor.
A former inmate received a full scholarship to Columbia University less than a year after his release.
"It's really amazing to see that when you take them out of jail and put them in the right environment, with the right opportunities and love and support, incredible things can happen," Anthony explained.
