Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.'s final album, Life After Death.

While fans are reminiscing over the classic, Diddy has also decided to get a bit nostalgic and dig into his vault of previously untold stories. During an appearance on RevoltTV, the mogul shared the interesting detail that he and Big once approached none other than Prince to appear on the project.

Unfortunately, the Purple One never made it to any of the double disc's 24 tracks, save for some samples, but it does make for an incredible "what-if" moment.

During the sit-down, Diddy shared that while Prince never delivered a full-fledged feature, he was supportive of the overall mission.

“We met with Prince," Diddy begins. "We did the thing ('This Time Around') with Michael Jackson, and me and [Biggie] was always Prince fans and stuff like that. But this was during a time when Prince wasn’t really rocking with hip-hop and wasn’t really clearing any samples, so that really didn’t go too well. But we was always still cool with him and wound up sampling some of his records and he wound up not chasing me for them in the future."

He then talked about how despite never collaborating with Biggie formally, at the end of the day, Prince was a fan and didn't shy away from offering his concern regarding some of hip-hop's profanity.

"He would just go through his phases and he came back to us and just let us know how proud he was of us and the whole thing," Diddy explained. "He was just really protective at one time of just what was going on as far as the whole 'b***h' and 'h*e' controversy. That was a real moment in hip-hop. That was a real reflection point in hip-hop where we were being kind of asked to take responsibility and think about what we were saying."
