Cory Gunz Apologizes to Fans After Arrest
Cory Gunz had one gun too many in the Bronx this weekend, where he was arrested for possession of an unregistered firearm.
Police busted the Young Money rapper on a street corner in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday. He was found carrying a loaded Taurus .9mm.
On Sunday, Gunz, born Peter Pankey Jr., was arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court. His father, Peter Gunz, who is also a rapper, posted $30,000 bail.
"This was a big mistake on my part," Gunz told the The New York Daily News after his release from jail. "I didn't have any intentions of harming anyone or committing a criminal activity. So many young people look up to me and I need to fight though this."
Speaking directly to his fans on Twitter, Cory accepted responsibility for his actions.
"I apologize to all of my Supporters, Friends and Family," he wrote. "Things Happen, No excuses. My only regret is letting ya'll down."
The 24-year-old rapper and his father starred in an MTV reality show last year called Son of a Gun. Ironically, the elder Gunz had recently started a campaign called Gunz Against Guns, which is dedicated to reducing gun violence in Bronx schools.
