Alicia Keys' ‘Hell's Kitchen’ Scores 13 Tony Nominations
The 2024 Tony Awards nominations are in, and Alicia Keys came out strong.
With 13 nominations, her play, “Hell's Kitchen,” which pays tribute to her formative years in New York City, tied with “Stereophonic.”
Along with Best Musical, "Hell's Kitchen" was nominated for Best Book of a Musical, Best Direction, and Best Choreography. It also garnered Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for Maleah Joi Moon and Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for Brandon Victor Dixon.
Other Tony nominees this award season include Leslie Odom, Jr., for his portrayal in "Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate." He received a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for that role. The play’s director, Kenny Leon, received a Best Direction nominee.
Sky Lakota-Lynch is also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for his role in "The Outsiders."
"Lempicka's" Amber Iman and "Hell's Kitchen's" Kecia Lewis will face off in Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. Dorian Harewood is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for “The Notebook.”
The 77th Tony Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 8 pm ET.
