Idris Elba Is 'Black Superman' In The Trailer To 'Hobbs & Shaw.'
The Fast & Furious franchise produced eight films and grossed almost $5 billion worldwide, and now, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham will headline the series’ first stand-alone vehicle.
Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw just saw its second trailer released today (April 18), and it reveals that Johnson and Statham will reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.
Idris Elba will be the movie’s villain and take on the role of Brixton, an anarchist who gains control of a deceitful bio-threat that could change humanity forever. Hobbs is a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service and Shaw is a former British military elite operative. They first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7 and will have to team up to keep the self-declared “Black Superman” from unleashing his deadly virus upon the masses.
Will they be able to do it? We’re guessing yes, but we’ll have to see.
Helen Mirren and Vanessa Kirby are also among the main cast in the David Leitch-directed film, playing Shaw’s sister and his mother, respectively.
Hobbs & Shaw will grace theaters beginning August 2. Watch the trailer below.
