Gunplay Released From Jail on $150,000 Bond

Judge frees Miami rapper, but places him under house arrest.

After spending 11 days in jail, Maybach Music Group rapper, Gunplay, was released from a South Florida jail today. The 33-year-old Miami native must now remain on house arrest until his robbery case goes to trial.
According to NBC News, Gunplay, born Richard Morales, was sent home on $150,000 bond because prosecutors failed to show he was a threat to society as a free man.
"The state did not prove that Mr. Morales was a flight risk or a threat to the community,” said his attorney Michael Grieco in an email statement to NBC News. “He should be home with his family shortly. This is first step in clearing his name so he can continue his emerging music career."
The "Rollin'" rapper was charged with second degree aggravated assault with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm stemming from an April incident with a Florida tax man. Much of the altercation was captured on video footage form a camera in the victim's office. Prior to turning himself into authorities earlier this month, Gunplay had avoided a warrant for his arrest since May.
The rapper experienced a raised profile after being involved in a brawl with 50 Cent's entourage outside the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. These robbery charges could land Gunplay in jail for life if convicted.
