Amy Winehouse Friend Claims He Took Singer to Buy Drugs
It hasn’t taken long for alleged friends of the late Amy Winehouse to start sharing stories about what the troubled singer did days before her death. One friend in particular is claiming that the day before Winehouse died, he took her to buy drugs. Tony Azzopardi had a second interview with police yesterday to discuss these claims.
According to the 56-year-old, he met with Amy near her home in Camden, North London, around 11:00 P.M. on July 22. Tony says Amy wanted him to help her obtain narcotics, which resulted in them taking a taxi to nearby West Hampstead. Upon their arrival Tony says he made a call to a dealer and Amy purchased a half ounce of crack cocaine and heroin.
"She gave me a kiss on the cheek and that was it — the last time I saw her," Azzopardi says. "She looked good, you know, fit — like she'd been clean for a while and filled out a bit. I couldn't believe it when I found out she was gone."
These claims contradict Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, who said that her daughter had been drug free for three years and potentially died from going cold turkey on alcohol after problems with alcoholism.
